Send a campaign in three steps

  1. Write the message. A live counter shows how many SMS units it will use. Add personal fields such as first name or a coupon code.
  2. Choose recipients. Upload an Excel file, paste numbers, import from Gmail or select a saved mailing list or segment.
  3. Send or schedule. Send now to thousands of numbers, or pick the exact date and time.

Campaign features

  • Personalization: insert fields from your file – name, balance, appointment date, unique coupon – into each message.
  • Scheduling: prepare campaigns in advance and send them at the right moment.
  • Sender ID: send from your business name in English letters, a mobile number or a landline number.
  • Links and files: link to a landing page, a PDF menu or an image.
  • Mailing lists and segments: keep customer groups and send to the right segment.
  • Customer club: manage club members, sign-ups by SMS keyword and automated birthday messages.
  • Saved messages: reuse recurring texts in one click.
  • Reports: real-time delivery reports, including delivery rates per carrier.
  • Replies: send from a virtual number to receive answers, RSVPs and survey responses.
  • Mobile friendly: the dashboard works on any phone and can be saved as an app.

Hebrew SMS: longer messages, fewer units

Hebrew, Arabic and Russian are sent as Unicode. Under standard SMS encoding a Unicode SMS holds 70 characters. On Global SMS one Hebrew unit holds up to 201 characters and is displayed as one message, so you can write a full offer in Hebrew without paying for three messages. Check your text with the SMS character counter.

Israel's anti-spam rules for marketing SMS

Marketing messages in Israel are regulated by section 30A of the Communications Law, often called the "anti-spam law". In general terms it requires:

  • Prior consent from the recipient to receive advertising messages.
  • Clear identification of the message as an advertisement (in Hebrew, the word "פרסומת" at the start of the message) and of the sender.
  • A simple way to opt out, and honoring opt-out requests.

Global SMS helps with the opt-out part: you can add an automatic unsubscribe link to each message. People who opt out are blocked in your account and cannot be added to any list again, and every campaign is checked against the opt-out list before it is sent.

This is general information, not legal advice. Check with a lawyer which rules apply to the messages you plan to send.

When to send SMS campaigns in Israel

  • The Israeli work week is Sunday to Thursday. Friday is a short day, and most businesses close from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening (Shabbat).
  • Avoid Shabbat and Jewish holidays for most audiences; many recipients see messages sent then as intrusive.
  • Good windows: late morning and early evening on weekdays. Avoid late night and early morning.
  • Plan around the holiday season. Rosh Hashanah, Passover and the end-of-year sales periods are peak times for promotions and greetings.

For time zones and holiday dates, see the timing section of SMS in Israel.

Writing an SMS that sells

  • Lead with the offer and the brand name in the first line.
  • One message, one goal, one link.
  • Give a reason to act now: a date, a limited stock, a code.
  • Personalize with the first name only if your data is clean.
  • Keep a short opt-out at the end.
Example (Hebrew)פרסומת: היי דנה, רק השבוע ב-MyShop 20% הנחה על כל הקולקציה עם הקוד SPRING20. לקנייה: https://ex.co/s20 להסרה: [קישור]
Example (English)MyShop: Hi Dana, 20% off the new collection this week only with code SPRING20. Shop: https://ex.co/s20 To unsubscribe: [link]
